Updated BB & CC Cream Roundup Part 2
Click here to see part 1 of this series
Over a year ago, I shared my favorite selection of newly created category of bases called "BB creams". Most people were not familiar with BB creams at this point, and many were confused as to what they actually did. Since then, I've created a Worst BB Creams post & video, and although I've mentioned my favorites since then in a lot of my beauty videos, I had yet to sit down and share my thoughts on the current BB creams on the market, which is vastly different from where it was when I created my first post. Depending on your support/requests, I would be happy to continue this as part of an ongoing series (i.e., a multi-parter that goes beyond parts 1 and 2) if you so wish. Let me know in the comments and cast your vote for more by hitting the Like button below (at the bottom of the post) and the "thumbs up" button within the video player!
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream
This is an all-around great CC cream. Standing for "Color Correction", cc creams are meant to be more active on the side of correcting skin's imperfections, sallowness, dullness, etc. They are intended to be more of a corrector, rather than a treatment (like a BB cream would). I like this CC cream very much - it's just a little too moisturizing for my skin type, which is normal. It makes me slightly dewy and I find a lot of powdering is necessary. But I think it is FANTASTIC for dry/mature skins! I have not tried their Age Defense BB but after trying this and liking it this much even though it's not a match for my skin type, I'm thinking I should give it a go.
Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer
Sadly, I think this was a total miss for me. I have to accept in some part responsibility for this epic fail--I bought it thinking it was a BB cream. Despite much of the packaging screaming "BB" at me, apparently this is a "BB tinted treatment primer". Whatever that is. I say pass. (Tarte apparently has an amazonian clay formulated bb cream which is probably what I was looking for in Sephora when I came out with this. Darn.)
Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream for Oily/Combination
Way to go for taking a product I hated, and fixing it, Garnier! I gave the original formulation (now repackaged as for "Normal/Dry" skins) a resounding F for Fail on my original BB cream review several years back. I'm finally getting around to trying their Combo/Oily version which has been out for some time now--and while I think it's leaps and bounds better than the original, I still think it falls short of most Asian bb creams. But it's a good drugstore BB.
Ponds Luminous Finish BB Cream
The new kid on the block, I'm actually quite impressed with this little BB cream. Came with a super cute presentation (great job, Ponds marketing team!). I was most impressed by the coverage. And although the word "luminous" usually makes me wary, I rather enjoyed the dewy effect this time--but I did need to powder several times throughout the day.
