Pretty in Pink Pleats

{ vintage dress c/o thrifted, belt - unknown, boots - zigi via karmaloop, "emma" ring c/o mimi & lu, bangles - vintage, watch - michael kors, bag - louis vuitton }

Vintage? No problem. 80's? Big deal. Pleats? No sweat. Shoulder pads? Who cares! Proof that you can pull off any dress, from any era, with the right attitude, perfect accessories, and a day of fun-filled plans ahead of you. We didn't let a little thing like rain ruin our day, either! I LOVE this dress from a favorite vintage shop of mine called Thrifted (beware of the mimics, this is the one and only real deal!).

This ring is something special. When Mimi & Lu contacted me a while back and introduced me to their fabulous jewelry line, I was enthralled by the delicate filigree and wire-wrapped rings  among their amazing collection. Over dozens of emails and brainstorming sessions, Mimi & Lu came up with a brand new design - codesigned by yours truly - named after my cat: the "Emma". It's available now as a limited edition and you can choose your gemstone (each ring is handmade to order).

Formed by criscrossing gold wire which meet to support a twisted gold wring holding a delicate sparkly gem encased in filigree detail, it's the perfect charm ring, and I'll tell you why.

Charm rings are great, except when they twist down around your finger and end up facing your palm - out of sight and causing nothing but irritation on the part of the wearer. So we came up with a way to keep the charm both locked in the right direction but still dangly and with movement when you walk, move your hand, etc.

It's so lovely because it's like a reminder that you're wearing something feminine and delicate, and I find myself moving more femininely when I wear it. And, it survived a long 12-hour day in the hospital, which says a lot for its durability, despite its delicate appearance!

I really loved pairing brown and gold accessories with this outfit because it warms up the dress a little - keeping things from being too washed out and too...pink (if that is even possible!). Giving it some weight, if you will.

Thank you, to-be-unnamed Industrial Supply company for lending me your loading dock for this outfit post. No, you did not actually lend it to me, and yes, we were technically trespassing. But it was only for a few minutes, I swear!

I will be back.

Sorry.

Isn't the color of this dress just amazing?? Not that it's pink, but the shade of pink is so soft, it practically affects your impression of the texture of the dress - it looks like cotton candy pleated into a dress.
