New York’s State of Fashion
I had a bit of an awakening this month.
After kindly being invited to New York (twice) to celebrate the US launch of Luxury Promise, it quickly became clear that my (contentedly) casual, band-tee-wearing self needed (wanted?) to shake things up a bit. On my first trip of a whirlwind 24 hours, I carefully observed those walking down the streets. I snapped pics of people whose style I admired. I found that there were a few universal threads, and to celebrate the newly launched KristinaBraly.com, I thought I would share them with you.
Menswear
Oversized fits, exaggerated shoulder pads, loose Oxford button-down shirts with rolled cuffs tucked into menswear-inspired trousers were the order of the day. I felt there was no way I could pull any of these styles off - until I happened to try on my husband’s sport coat on a whim and was like DAMN! Checkmeout, y’all!
Everything with Sneakers
Thankfully I knew enough to bring along my newly-purchased Nike Dunk Low Women’s - in the coveted black & white color way (a hot-ticket item right now!). Those were popular, along with oversized dad sneakers (balenciaga paved the way for this style).
Headphones
Maybe this isn’t much of a style note, but a NYC thing: everyone wears some sort of headphones. Air Pods, Air Pods Max (!), Bose noise cancelling, classic Apple ear buds…everyone walks and talks on their phone during their commute’s walk. Also, oddly enough…everyone FaceTimes…?
