Be Brilliant - MNG by MANGO

In Tampa for the Blogger Brilliance conference last weekend, Vahni and I managed to sneak in a few outfit shots as we passed my camera back and forth. Nearby, fellow bloggers looked on. Normally I'd be so nervous with an audience, but I guess that's what time does to you--I could take pics anywhere these days! I'm numb to the awkwardness, I guess.

So my Miu Miu heels have lived to see another outfit (and another conference). Hey, I've gotta get my cost per wear out of these things! They are so incredibly fabulous, if not a bit attention-stealing throughout the day. These pesky little shoes - they stole the limelight from the rest of my outfit, and the rest of my outfit got a wee bit jealous. So jealous, in fact, that they threatened to revolt. Lest I be standing in the nude with nothing but a pair of Miu Miu heels on, I coaxed them into staying and we all lived to see another day, sans-humiliation.

Did you get that? It's just my delirium talking. Pay it no mind.

But down to the more important stuff. This look signals the start of my MNG by MANGO / jcpenney style challenges. Week after week I'll be styling up pieces from the MNG by MANGO line (sold exclusively at jcpenney and really affordable, I might add!). The first challenge is as follows:

The British style icon I chose to emulate is the ever-amazing Alexa Chung. It's no secret that I look to her for style inspiration on many-an-uninspiring day. But why do I identify with her? Because she simultaneously pairs rocker chic elements with girly, floaty elements. She's the one who you will see pairing a floral sundress with a black leather biker jacket and motorcycle boots. That is so me! For this look, I paired a sweet, floaty peasant number by MNG by MANGO with my tough resin-coated James jeans, and topped it off with some more sweet accents: a silver heart locket (also edged up because it has an oxidized black chain complete with handcuff detail) and of course the sparkly Miu Mius.

Remember, you can enter the contest to win the trip to Barcelona with the rest of us (10 bloggers)!

Disclosure: This campaign is produced by Style Coalition and sponsored by jcpenney.

I finally applied my Sephora Chic Prints nail foils that I've been safeguarding for months for a rainy day...in this case, it was triggered by sunny days in Florida for the Blogger Brilliance conference! I love how Minx-like they look, at a fraction of the price. Although, at around $12 a pack (that's one application, folks) and a lifespan of 1-2 days (as it says on the package), I'll likely not be repurchasing. But they were fun and garnered lots of compliments!
